# Atlassian

Connect your Atlassian account and Pencel can work with **Jira** and **Confluence**: check on issues, find what your team wrote down, and create or update issues and pages for you, with your approval.

## What Pencel can do with it

* **Get a status update.** On Home, ask "What's blocking the Q3 launch in Jira?" or "Which issues assigned to me are overdue?"
* **Log work.** "Create a Jira issue for this customer complaint and set it to high priority."
* **Find a policy or decision.** "Find our travel policy in Confluence and tell me the per diem."
* **Write it up.** "Draft a Confluence page with this week's project status."

What it can reach: the Jira projects and Confluence spaces your Atlassian account can open, for searching, reading, creating and updating.

## Connect it

1. Go to **Settings ▸ Connections ▸ Recommended**.
2. Find **Atlassian** and click **Install**.
3. Your browser opens on Atlassian. Sign in, choose your Atlassian site and allow access.
4. Back in Pencel, the Atlassian card reads **Installed**.

Atlassian runs this connection itself, so your issues and pages go between your computer and Atlassian directly. There's no key to paste.

## What needs your approval

Creating or updating an issue, adding a comment, moving an issue to a new status, or creating or editing a page all ask first. The approval card shows exactly what Pencel will write. You can approve it, **Edit fields** first, or **Reject** it.

For routine actions you trust, **Always Allow** stops Pencel asking about that action. In a room, deleting something asks every time.

## Good to know

* **Pencel works with your permissions.** If a project or space is closed to you, it's closed to Pencel too. Anything Pencel creates or changes shows up as done by your account.
* **Rooms use only their own accounts.** A room can read Jira or Confluence only if it's set up to use this connection. See its settings under **Advanced ▸ Tools & accounts**.

## Disconnect or change what it can do

Go to **Settings ▸ Connections ▸ Installed** and open the **⋮** menu on the Atlassian card.

* **Manage Tools**: switch off anything you don't want Pencel to use, such as creating issues or editing pages. Click **Save changes**.
* **Disconnect**: pause the connection. Click **Connect** to turn it back on.
* **Remove**: delete the connection and its saved sign-in from Pencel.

To also withdraw access on Atlassian's side, remove Pencel from the connected apps in your Atlassian account settings.
