# Linear

Connect your Linear workspace and Pencel can tell you where your issues and projects stand, and create, update and comment on issues for you, with your approval.

## What Pencel can do with it

* **Get a status update.** On Home, ask "What's still open in the Website Refresh project, and who owns each item?"
* **Spot what's stuck.** "Which issues have been in progress for more than a week?"
* **Log work.** "Create a Linear issue for this customer request and assign it to Priya."
* **Tidy up.** "Add a comment to the checkout bug saying the fix is scheduled for Friday."

What it can reach: the teams, projects, issues and comments your Linear account can open.

## Connect it

1. Go to **Settings ▸ Connections ▸ Recommended**.
2. Find **Linear** and click **Install**.
3. Your browser opens on Linear. Sign in and approve access for your workspace.
4. Back in Pencel, the Linear card reads **Installed**.

Linear runs this connection itself, so your issues go between your computer and Linear directly.

## What needs your approval

Creating or updating an issue, changing its status or assignee, and adding a comment all ask first. The approval card shows exactly what Pencel will write. You can approve it, **Edit fields** first, or **Reject** it.

For routine actions you trust, **Always Allow** stops Pencel asking about that action. In a room, deleting something asks every time.

## Good to know

* **Pencel works with your permissions.** If you can't see a team or project in Linear, neither can Pencel.
* **Rooms use only their own accounts.** A room can read Linear only if it's set up to use this connection. See its settings under **Advanced ▸ Tools & accounts**.

## Disconnect or change what it can do

Go to **Settings ▸ Connections ▸ Installed** and open the **⋮** menu on the Linear card.

* **Manage Tools**: switch off anything you don't want Pencel to use, such as creating or updating issues. Click **Save changes**.
* **Disconnect**: pause the connection. Click **Connect** to turn it back on.
* **Remove**: delete the connection and its saved sign-in from Pencel.

To also withdraw access on Linear's side, remove Pencel from the authorized applications in your Linear settings.
