# Slack

Connect your Slack workspace and Pencel can read your channels, search past conversations and post messages for you, with your approval.

## What Pencel can do with it

* **Catch you up.** On Home, ask "Summarize this week's threads in #sales" or "What did I miss in #ops yesterday?"
* **Find a decision.** "Find where we discussed the Henderson pricing and tell me what we agreed."
* **Post for you.** "Post this week's bid summary to #bd." Pencel shows you the message first and posts only after you approve.
* **Look someone up.** "Who handles procurement on the Slack workspace?"

What it can reach: the channels the connected account can see, their history, Slack search, your workspace's member list, and posting messages.

## Connect it

1. Go to **Settings ▸ Connections ▸ Recommended**.
2. Find **Slack** and click **Install**.
3. Your browser opens on Slack. Sign in, choose your workspace and allow access.
4. Back in Pencel, the Slack card reads **Installed**.

If your workspace requires admin approval for new apps, ask your Slack admin to approve Pencel.

## What needs your approval

Posting a message, or changing anything else in Slack, asks first. The approval card shows the channel and the exact message. You can approve it, **Edit fields** first, or **Reject** it.

For routine posts you trust, like a weekly summary to the same channel, **Always Allow** stops Pencel asking about that action.

## Good to know

* **Pencel sees what the connected account sees.** Channels it can't open are invisible to Pencel too.
* **Your messages go between your computer and Slack.** Pencel's servers help only with the sign-in step. The AI model sees only what a task needs.
* **Rooms use only their own accounts.** A room can read Slack only if it's set up to use this connection. See its settings under **Advanced ▸ Tools & accounts**.

## Disconnect or change what it can do

Go to **Settings ▸ Connections ▸ Installed** and open the **⋮** menu on the Slack card.

* **Manage Tools**: switch off anything you don't want Pencel to use, such as posting messages. Click **Save changes**.
* **Disconnect**: stop Pencel using it for now.
* **Remove**: delete the connection and its saved sign-in from Pencel.

To also withdraw access on Slack's side, remove Pencel from your workspace's installed apps in Slack.
