Todos
Todos are task items that you or your agents create to track work that needs to be done.
Todos give you a lightweight task management layer inside Pencel. You can create them manually, and your agents can suggest them during runs or chat sessions. They help bridge the gap between what an agent discovers and what a human needs to act on.
What It Does
- Track action items — create todos with titles, descriptions, priorities, and due dates.
- Agent-suggested tasks — agents can propose todos during runs. You decide whether to accept them.
- Priority levels — mark items as low, medium, or high priority.
- Status tracking — move items through a simple workflow from pending to done.
- Pulse integration — pending and suggested todos live in the To-dos scope of Pulse, your personal checklist.
- Hand to an agent — dispatch a todo as a one-off run (from Add Task → Run once) so an agent does the work instead of you.

Status Flow
Todos follow a simple lifecycle:
Pending → In Progress → Awaiting Review → Done
→ Cancelled- Pending — the default state for new todos.
- In Progress — you have started working on it.
- Awaiting Review — work is done and waiting for someone to review it.
- Done — completed. A completion timestamp is recorded.
- Cancelled — no longer needed. A completion timestamp is recorded.
Agent-Suggested Todos
When an agent creates a todo during a run or chat session, it is marked as suggested (accepted = false). Suggested todos appear in the Pulse To-dos scope with an Accept button.
- Accept — the todo moves into your active list and behaves like any other todo.
- Dismiss — the todo is removed.
This keeps agents from cluttering your task list with items you did not ask for. You stay in control of what makes it onto your plate.
TIP
Create a guideline that tells your agents when to suggest todos — for example, "If you discover an action item that requires human follow-up, create a todo for it." This turns your agents into proactive assistants that surface work instead of burying it in run logs.
Daily Summary
The todos system provides a daily summary with:
- Total open todos
- Overdue items (past due date)
- Due today items
- Completed today count
- High priority count
This summary helps you start each day in the Pulse To-dos scope with a clear picture of what needs attention.
Custom Ordering
You can drag and reorder todos to match your preferred sequence. The sort order is preserved across sessions, so your list stays organized the way you left it.
