Tailor

Tailor is Pencel's proposal builder — it turns an RFP (and the opportunity your RFP Scout found) into a drafted response, grounded in your past answers and checked against the RFP's actual requirements.

Tailor is the second half of the RFP solution pack: the scout finds and ranks opportunities, and Tailor helps you respond. From an opportunity card in Pulse, click Write proposal to open Tailor for that RFP.

What Tailor does

  • Requirement extraction — Tailor reads the RFP and pulls out the requirements you must respond to. Extraction is graded by an LLM judge for accuracy, and coverage is honest: it won't silently mark a requirement "passing" when it isn't. Uncertain items are surfaced, not hidden.
  • Add or edit requirements — missed something? Add or edit requirements directly in the Analyze view.
  • Reuse past answers — Tailor pulls relevant prior answers from your Knowledge and Memory, so you're not rewriting boilerplate you've already answered.
  • Format compliance — it checks your response against the RFP's format rules and reports honestly (no silent "compliant"). It warns when a base document was ingested lossily (e.g. a scanned PDF) and prefers a .docx source.
  • Compliance matrix export — export a requirement-by-requirement compliance matrix for your submission.
  • Resume review — a tailored document's review is never a dead end; you can resume it later.

The flow

  1. Scout publishes opportunity cards to the Pulse Opportunities scope.
  2. You pick one and click Write proposal.
  3. Tailor extracts requirements, drafts responses grounded in your past answers, and flags gaps.
  4. You review, fill gaps, and export the compliance matrix with your response.
