Using To-dos
Todos help you track work that needs to happen outside of agent runs — follow-up calls, manual approvals, items your agents discovered but cannot act on themselves. This guide covers creating, managing, and organizing your todos.
Creating Todos
Manual Creation
- Open the To-dos scope in Pulse from the left sidebar.
- Click Add Todo.
- Enter a title (e.g., "Review Q1 budget proposal").
- Optionally add:
- Description — additional context or details.
- Priority — Low, Medium, or High.
- Due Date — when it should be completed.
- Click Save.
Agent-Suggested Todos
Your agents can create todos during runs and chat sessions. When an agent suggests a todo, it appears on your Pulse as a suggestion — not yet on your active list.
To accept a suggestion:
- Find the suggestion card in the Pulse To-dos scope.
- Click Accept — the todo moves to your active list.
To dismiss a suggestion:
- Click Dismiss — the todo is removed.
TIP
Teach your agents to suggest todos by adding a guideline like: "If you discover a follow-up action that requires human involvement, create a todo with a clear title and the relevant context in the description."
Managing Todos
Status Updates
Move todos through the workflow as you work on them:
- Pending → In Progress: you have started working on it.
- In Progress → Awaiting Review: work is done and waiting for someone to review it.
- Awaiting Review → Done: reviewed and completed.
- Any status → Cancelled: no longer needed.
When you mark a todo as Done or Cancelled, a completion timestamp is recorded automatically.
Priority Levels
| Priority | When to Use |
|---|---|
| High | Needs attention today. Blocks other work or has an imminent deadline. |
| Medium | Important but not urgent. Default for most items. |
| Low | Nice to have. Handle when you have spare time. |
Due Dates
Set due dates for time-sensitive items. The daily summary on your Pulse flags:
- Overdue items — past their due date.
- Due today items — need attention now.
Reordering
Drag and drop todos to arrange them in your preferred order. The custom sort order is preserved across sessions.
Filtering and Viewing
The Pulse To-dos scope supports filtering by:
- Status — show only pending, in progress, or all items.
- Accepted — show only accepted todos, or include suggestions.
The Pulse shows a daily summary:
- Total open todos
- Overdue count
- Due today count
- Completed today count
- High priority count
Tips
- Keep titles actionable. "Call Sarah about contract renewal" is better than "Contract stuff."
- Use descriptions for context. Include links, reference numbers, or notes from the agent run that suggested the todo.
- Review suggestions daily. Agent suggestions pile up if ignored. Accept what is useful and dismiss the rest.
- Set due dates for accountability. Items without due dates tend to drift. Even a rough date helps you prioritize.
